ABOUT ABOUT

We are all familiar with the frustrating stats about women in the workplace:

  • Women in professional specialty occupations earn 72.7% of what men in the same position earn; women in upper level executive, administrative and managerial occupations earn even less at 72.3%, and the pay gap across all occupations is still 77.5%.

  • According to a Pew Research Center survey, over 51% of working mothers experience difficulity advancing their careers while only 16% of working fathers express the same sentiment

  • Women hold only 16.3% of CEO positions in the United States

However, the workplace is also shifting towards a more female future. More women graduate from high school, attend and graduate from college, and earn post-graduate degrees than men, positioning them for better careers. More than 9.4 million firms are owned by women, employing nearly 7.9 million people, and generating $1.5 trillion in sales. Women have achieved equity in the STEM fields of biolgocial sciences, medical sciences, and are nearly there with 44.2% in chemical sciences.

Young Involved Philadelphia invites you to a panel discussion and networking reception to engage and connect with six female leaders on top of their respective sectors to learn how we can all work towards a better, more equal future in the workplace. The panel features Anita Andrews (Magento), Cherri Gregg (KYW Radio), Lauren Hitt (Philadelphia Mayor's Office), Maud Lyon (Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance), Archna Sahay (StartupPHL), and Tiffany Tavarez (Wells Fargo) with moderation by Felicia Harris, Chair of the Philadelphia Commission on Women.

Bring your questions, ideas, and business cards!
