ABOUT ABOUT

Each fall, Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) hosts State of Young Philly (SOYP), a dynamic 10-day event series filled with programming designed to connect young Philadelphians of every background, showcase their positive impact, and amplify their voices. SOYP 2018 brings together nonprofits, government entities, civic leaders, and local businesses to help young Philadelphians identify what civic engagement means to them and the role each individual can play in driving change in their communities.

Join Covenant House PA's Hugh Organ, long-time Associate Executive Director of Covenant House Pennsylvania and Chairman of the Philadelphia Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition, as he leads a discussion about human trafficking in Philadelphia, and what young involved Philly residents can do to end this issue. Informed by 19 years of working with and fighting on behalf of trafficked youth Hugh knows all too well how human trafficking is a particularly alarming element of youth homelessness, and it is often invisible. It may seem like a global challenge, but it is actually happening right here in our back yard, impacting youth as young as 12.

This event is organized by the Covenant House PA Associate Board, a group of young professionals striving to raise awareness about youth homelessness and build a community dedicated to addressing this challenge. All event proceeds benefit CHPA. Snacks and networking opportunities included in ticket price!
